Visit with the Northeast Chapter of the National MS Society

Mom and I had the opportunity to have lunch with the ladies of the Northeast Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society today. We discussed the uses of massage and aromatherapy on people with MS. Thank you so much for the wonderful lunch, and we appreciate all your support!

Roaring with the Lions Club

Today I had the opportunity to share the podium with my Mom at the Downtown Lions Club in Monroe. I spoke on Multiple Sclerosis Awareness, and told my family's MS Story, as well as talking about the pageant. Mom shared her ideas on advanced directives and being a self-advocate with physicans. Thank you so much to Randy Cook for inviting us to speak, and for an amazing lunch, too!

Musings from the Atlanta Airport - Kentucky Derby-bound

I’m sitting in the Atlanta Airport, positioned at column table in CafĂ© Intermezzo, sipping a refreshing peach martini, determined to quell the queasiness that resulted from my previous jarring flight, and waiting for my connecting flight to Louisville. I’m Derby-bound, with a big twinkle chiffon hat as my carryon. It’s amusing, as flying with a big hat today is akin to being in a Derby Sorority: ladies of all shapes and sizes stopping strangers with big boxes to giggle at their ridiculous chapeaus.

I should be studying for interview, but decided to eavesdrop on various conversations around the restaurant, which is much more entertaining than reading one more person’s opinion on ObamaCare. The ladies to my right are discussing if they should let their daughter paint their bathroom hot pink, to which I interjected the answer of yes (since my bathroom is fuchsia with white polka dots, and a big crown hanging off my showerhead). The gentleman to my right is so engrossed with playing World of Warcraft, I’m afraid he might miss his flight. And the couple behind me is engrossed in an argument, and I’m trying to hold in my laughter at the ridiculousness of their disagreement over how much artificial sweetener should be used in coffee.

But I digress, I’m Derby-bound, and can’t wait!

Musings from the Louisiana Country Dance Hayride

Tonight I performed at the Louisiana Country Dance Hayride, and was introduced as Mrs. Louisiana Plus America for the first time. It’s funny, you tell people that you’ve won six national dance championships and a world title, and it’s no big deal. You tell people you have a crown, and they are impressed. Go figure.

It’s been a great weekend in Alexandria! I’ve had the opportunity to teach workshops, judge competition, dance with great friends, take coaching from the fabulous Bob Wheatley of Houston (along with chatting with his amazing girlfriend Catherine Pisano – who is gorgeous, brilliant, and talented … I would detest her if she wasn’t so fabulous!), and perform in tonight’s show. Oh, I also got fabulous new strappy dance sandals – life is good.
